Julie Feeny, a security officer, was inspired to help as people she knew had been affected by breast cancer and she wanted to raise awareness and fund research for this important cause.
Julie, along with fellow security officer Ben Ward, organised donations from colleagues working at Brockfield House. Some service users were also keen to support, asking if they could donate towards the fundraising efforts.
Julie said: “I wanted to raise money and awareness as some of my colleagues had been affected by it, and sadly one of my friend’s mum recently passed away from breast cancer.
“The fundraising pack also included a poster which we displayed to provide people with information about breast cancer.”
Ian Carr, Director of Specialist Services at Brockfield House, said: “We are proud to contribute to cause which means so much to so many, and I am very grateful to our dedicated and generous staff.”
Each year more than 56,800 people are diagnosed with breast cancer, and the money raised by Julie and her team will go to Breast Cancer Awareness in order to help fund important research.
